How It Works
Registration
We offer three different types of events:
- Traditional – men seeking women and women seeking men
- LGBTQ – women seeking woman and men seeking men
- Transgender mingles
The types of events don’t cross. Each event is of a specific type. Be sure you are registering for an event that is appropriate for you.
Here’s what to expect as you register for an event:
- Click on the Register button for the event you would like to attend.
- Registration assumes agreement with our Terms and Conditions as listed on the event page.
- You’ll be directed to our EventBrite event page for registraton and payment.
- Several pieces of information will be requested.
- Your email address (will only be shared with your mutual matches, and for communications from EventBrite about the event.)
- Your name (only your first name will be shared with participants)
- Your age at the time of the event (this will not be shared)
- Your city and state (registration is limited to within 100 miles of Chesterton, Indiana)
Thank you for your responses. All information is required.
Once you submit your responses, you’ll be asked to purchase a ticket based on your gender (man seeking woman, woman seeking man) so we can ensure equal attendance. There are no refunds. Payment will be collected by EventBrite.
Attendance
Please arrive at least fifteen minutes or more prior to the stated start time. This will allow time to register (you will be asked to show identification in order to confirm your age and location), receive your name badge, honor your one-drink-minimum agreement, and find your seat prior to the actual timed dates.
Women: You’ll take a seat at your assigned table once you’ve purchased your drink.
Men: You’ll be grouped temporarily with other male attendees.
The host will review some basic information.
Then, the speed dating begins! Men will proceed to their assigned first table.
Each encounter will be 3 minutes in length. It is only meant to allow enough time for you to determine whether you’d like to get to know each other better.
Once the three minutes is up, you’ll have a few minutes to make notes, if desired. The women will stay at their assigned tables, the men will rotate.
At the end of the event, you’ll turn in your form with your choices circled. If you circle a person’s name, this means you are interested in learning more about that person. If you are not interested in further contact, do not circle the name, and your contact information will not be shared with that person.
Mutual matches (you circle their name AND they circle yours) will be notified of each other’s interest by email (from our liz at South Shore Speed Dating email address) within two days (48 hours) of the conclusion of the event. Only your email address will be provided to your matches. You will also be notified if you have not matched with anyone.
Please note: the only way you will receive your matches is via email. This will also be the only way for you to contact your matches. Please check your spam folder regularly in the days following the event.
